Welcome to the 2019 TUgis Conference. TUgis: Maryland’s Geospatial Conference is a cooperative undertaking of three primary partners—Maryland State Geographic Information Committee, Maryland Department of Information Technology, and Towson University. TUgis is dedicated to growing and empowering the GIS community throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The annual conference connects the Maryland GIS community to new ideas and trends and offers ample opportunities to find ways to collaborate.


Sunbeam Rahman

Manager - GIS and Remote Sensing, ACI Ltd, Dhaka
Sunbeam Rahman works for Advanced Chemical Industries (ACI) as Manager, GIS and Remote Sensing since 2017. He works for a project called Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS) for Farmers, initiated by Netherlands Space Office (NSO) under its global collaboration called Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW). In this project, Sunbeam is handling Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellite data to assess pest and disease forecast which can be disseminated using ArcGIS Enterprise. Sunbeam started his career on 2012 after joining an NGO called Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) who works with climate scientists and spatial analysts. During his tenure, he collaborated with bright minds from Climate Resilient Ecosystems and Livelihoods (CREL), a collaboration between Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD), USAID and Winrock International. At CREL, Sunbeam mostly analysed satellite information for measuring forest health of Bangladesh. The analysis included carbon stock analysis and impact assessment for co-management initiatives of BFD. He started career on 2012 after completing his MSc from the University of Dhaka with a major of Geography and Environment.
