Developing a Cached Map Service in ArcGIS using OpenStreetMap Data

This presentation discusses the processes utilized in authoring a customized map service using mostly OpenStreetMap data. The deliverable of the effort is a cached map service, used as a basemap within a WGS 1984 projected disconnected environment. The major discussion points center around the reasoning for the effort, and then focus on the ultimate workflow. Data acquisition, conversion, storage, integration, symbolization, publishing, caching, sharing, and automation will be described in the presentation. A brief demo of the resulting cached map service will follow.
